For our final Coffee with Louis Hilton Stories of 2025, I invite you to browse our favorite reads of the year. This year, I read 31 books across various genres, including nonfiction, fiction, business, and personal development.
There were also quite a few books (well over a dozen) that I started but did not finish. I will keep reading those in the new year and let you know what I think. Reading is fluid for me. To borrow from Rihanna, it’s a “mood thing.” Some books were set aside for research, others because the timing just did not feel right.
So, as we wrap up the year, I’d love to hear from you. Comment below! Whether you are a fellow book lover, a quiet observer, or someone just passing through:
Have you read any of these?
What was your favorite book of 2025, especially one that explored culture, memory, or legacy?
What should I read in the new year?
And is there a book on my list you would love to see me revisit or write about in 2026?
You can see a few of my five-star reads as well.
In the meantime, happy holidays, and have a wonderful New Year!
Until Next Sunday,
Calyssa

Thank you for including But Where’s Home, Calyssa. I appreciate you reading it! You recommended Whoopi Goldberg’s memoir and I listened to the audiobook. It was wonderful hearing her tell her story and learning about her relationships with her mother and brother. And through you I also discovered Tana French whose work I’m enjoying.
I haven’t read any of these books but this post came so timely. I’m looking for a book to start the new year. His and Hers is on my list and The Charity Shop looks interesting and a light read.
I love that you mention reading as a fluid process. I feel bad putting a book down not because it’s not good, but at the time it just isn’t feel right or my mind isn’t ready. Your perspective has me reevaluating my “feeling bad” and buying another book, to just, hey, I’ll get back to it when I get back to it.
